For zines and books, it’s a good idea to send 5–10 pictures that give a good idea of the project, and should be accompanied by a little description or brief of what the project is about.
For anything else, there’s not really a limit, but looking forward to see what you send over!

If you’re in Cardiff for the Diffusion Festival this weekend, make sure to check out the OGA boys’ table as part of the programme of Diffusion Festival’s Publishing Weekend. As well as having a bunch of zines and photo-books to flick through, they’ll have some stuff on sale too, with a few bits from Steamy Press.

What on earth is screen-printing?
Screen-printing is a process for making prints on fabric or paper by forcing beads of ink past a stencil and through a mesh screen. Though completely man-powered, it’s still relatively quick and you get some pretty cool results in the right hands.
We worked closely with Horse Zine to develop our John Malta tees, developing a brand new marbling technique and hand-printing each tee. This means that each tee is completely unique and there’s not a single one in the batch that looks like the last – they’re all different. Add the fact that there was a constant soundtrack of Motown at Horse HQ and you know your tee has got sooooooul.
‘You Gots to Chill’ tees are available in the Steamy Press shop.

Winter’s dying down, spring is hotting up and summer’s coming soon. You know what that means: it’s almost time to get yer chill on.
John Malta, an NY-based illustrator whose work regularly appears in the New York Times and is a zine heavyweight in his own right, drew this zany dude for us in his trademark style. It oozed weirdness, so we worked with James Hall, screen-printer at Horse Zine, to develop a unique marbling effect with water-based inks. The result is a funky, grungy tee that’s lurid, psychedelic and bound to turn heads.
These are destined to fly out pretty quickly, so head on over to the Steamy Press shop now! Available in small, medium and large unisex sizes.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Steamy Press is now accepting submissions for a zine to be released in the near future. The theme? Everyone’s favourite flower: cannabis.
The internet is awash with gpoy (gratuitous picture of yourself) and we’re bringing gpow (gratuitous picture of weed) to the world, because who doesn’t like a little greenery? To submit, send as many small JPEGs (500 pixels on the longest side) as you’d like to hello@steamypress.co.uk, titling the e-mail ‘GPOW’. Once the selection has been made, the included photographers will be notified.
Submissions close on 20 April 2013 at 4.20 p.m..

In what looks to be set for a huge year for Saul Leiter, Steidl have issued a fourth reprint of the popular Early Color, just in time for a deluge of screenings of Tomas Leach’s In No Great Hurry: 13 Lessons in Life with Saul Leiter. It’s the perfect time to purchase this highly sought after volume of Saul’s work, as previous stock has sold out in a flash.
Pre-orders are being taken now and the book ships from Steidl on 11 March 2013. And, due to popular demand, a second screening of the documentary at Fishbar Gallery has been scheduled for 14 March. Get your tickets here.

‘NOP (Not Our Publication) is a reporting code used by publishers to identify books that are not their own but are held within their warehouse.’
This weekend, we launched our online printed collection, offering everyone the chance to peruse through our library of titles printed by other publishers and artists. The aim of the website is to showcase the multitude of content regularly published by independents such as ourselves, and serves as an inspirational springboard for like-minded creatives. Submissions are welcome and gratefully received.
